I was surprised to discover that Anita and Mark lived on a military base, of all places! As I made way through the unfamiliar surroundings I wondered who these people were who had invited a total stranger into their home and their most personal life.
I will confess that my memories of my shoot with Anita and Mark are somewhat vague. I remember that Anita emailed me, asking if I would be interested in photographing her with her husband, but I don’t remember what our connection was – how she knew of my work, or why she was interested. This was one of the few shoots where I didn’t meet with the couple beforehand, to get acquainted and talk about the shoot. We simply set up the shoot over the phone, and then I showed up at their apartment one...
