I always make a point of telling the couple that they shouldn’t feel that they need to generate some dramatic, larger-than-life sexual energy for me and my camera – that what I want is for them to simply be themselves, to relax and be as natural as possible.
As I’ve mentioned several times in these discussions about how I work with the couples I photograph, I always try to meet with my subjects prior to the time of our shoot, so we can get to know and become comfortable with each other, and so that I can answer any questions they may have about how the shoot will proceed.
